I stopped in at Craft Beer Corner on the way for a glass of Red Island Cider and then adjourned across the street to Punjabi Bites for a meal.

Untappd check-in: Rodenbach Grand Cru (3.5 ⭐)
Naam: Rodenbach Grand Cru
ABV: 6%
Brouwerij: Brouwerij Rodenbach
Stijl: Sour – Flanders Red Ale
Land: Belgium
Wat ik er over zeg:Het is echt wel een bijzondere smaak. Zuurder dan je gewend bent maar we met een bierige smaak. Op de achtergrond wat kersen en rood fruit.
Zoals ze zelf zeggen: This is an aged Belgian red ale, which is ‘ripened quietly in oak barrels for two years’, according to the label. It has an extremely pungent aroma of rich grapey fruit, with acidic notes, very much like a slightly sour red wine or possibly a gueuze. In the mouth it is slightly sweet, extremely acidic and fruity, with grapes and even cherries discernible, and very lively. Despite the sweetness it is not at all cloying, even thin, with little or no trace of malt. Finish is sharp and fruity.
