Je maakt me nu wel nieuwsgierig Jan. Heeft jouw feedreader indieweb functionaliteiten? Kunnen we ergens een werkende demo zien?

I think I understand what you’re working towards Chris and it’s very interesting. One of the problems I have with the current Post Kinds plugin is it only works with Microformats. When a site is not equipped with MF2 (and a lot of them aren’t) the plugin can’t parse any useful information from the site in question. When I want to reply, bookmark, favorite or anything, I need to be very aware I check the metadata of the site. Which is kind of weird, since there are lots of fallbacks when there is no MF2 available. It could trickle down as follows: MF2 > Open Graph > Meta tags of title and description. If this could be fixed within Post Kinds or the solution you’re working on, that would be great!
Reactie op: 23 years of blogging
Gefeliciteerd Jeroen, met 23 jaar bloggen! Wat was je blog destijds? Ik twijfel of ik hem ooit in Bloghelden heb genoemd…
Welcome to the wonderful world of webmentions James! Well, you’ve been here for quite some time already, collecting the webmentions. But it’s great to see you took the time to find a solution that works for you and is suited to your needs. It may not work for others, which is great. Because you share your code, others can build upon it and create their own solution. Which leads to a richer and more diverse ecosystem of solutions to get, send, show and share webmentions. It might get messy, but that’s life.
Off the top of my head, I’d probably filter out all “likes” and “bookmarks” if I had those issues and only display comments.
You might consider showing likes and bookmarks in a different manner, with facepiles or other creative ways. But then again, it’s all up to you!
Thanks for your reply Neil. It immediately shows how fragile the WordPress ecosystem is with Indieweb plugins. Since I use the Genesis framework, somehow the Microformats are not working properly. In your article it shows you reply to “a post” when instead it should show the title and the author when possible. It only does this when Microformats are implemented. Which in itself would be a great solution, but there needs to be a fallback, like using the open graph information when there is no Microformats. Or just take the title-tag of the page. Again, it shows the potential of a great protocol, but it’s just not there yet for the general public to use and appreciate.
