De term Content is King ben ik de afgelopen jaren vaak genoeg tegengekomen. In presentaties, diverse boeken en podcasts. Maar ik wist niet dat de oorsprong van deze term bij Bill Gates ligt. Op de Microsoft site is een essay uit 1996 van hem te vinden met dezelfde titel. Hij begint met profetische woorden:
Content is where I expect much of the real money will be made on the Internet, just as it was in broadcasting.
Die Bill Gates had het soms toch best wel bij het goede eind.
